St. Louis is Now On the Clock - Jake Long Selected By the Dolphins

The Dolphins have announced their signing of OT Jake Long from Michigan as the number one pick of the 2008 NFL Draft. Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland stated "Jake has been on the top of our board since the beginning...He was the guy we were targeting all along." The Dolphins and Jake Long have agreed to a 5-year deal which was finalized this morning for $57.5 M (30M guaranteed) . Jeff Ireland made it clear there was never any other talks with other players agents about being the number one pick, Jake Long was always their man.

Long is the first Offensive Tackle selected number one over all since 1997 when Orlando Pace was selected by the St. Louis Rams.
